Affiliated Computer Services Inc. has signed a $12 million, three-year contract extension to provide a wide array of information technology services to Solano County, Calif.
ACS of Dallas will provide the county with application support, project management, data center management, local network and data communications support, desktop services and Web portal support, the company announced Jan. 4.
The three-year extension is part of an existing eight-year agreement.
Solano County is largely an agricultural county of about 380,000 residents whose board of supervisors is actively involved in making county services available online.
An IT business plan previously developed by ACS and county officials currently serves as the foundation and framework for the delivery of electronic services to county residents.
"It sometimes takes a while in county government to move things forward, but with ACS' help we've seen significant strides in automation across the board," said Michael Johnson, Solano County administrator.
ACS has more than 18,500 employees and had sales of about $1.9 billion in 2000.
