Western Data Gets $7.3 Million Extension on Defense Work

The Defense Department extended the Materiel Requirements Planning II contract with Western Data Systems with additional funding of $7.3 million for one year, the company said.

The extension brings the total value of the contract, awarded in 1996, to $36.8 million over five years.

The MRPII project is managed by the Navy for implementation of Western Data's accounting software at several Navy depots, including the Naval Aviation Depots at Jacksonville, Fla., Cherry Point, N.C. and North Island, Calif.; and at Marine Corps Logistics Bases at Albany, Ga. and Barstow, Calif.

"This contract extension reconfirms the Navy's commitment to streamlining deport operations using WDS software," said Michael Rapaport, WDS senior vice president.

The Department of Defense earlier this year also chose Western Data to provide advanced planning and scheduling and other solutions at the same sites.

Western Data Systems of Calabasas, Calif., is a provider of Web-based application software and services to the commercial and military aerospace and defense industry.
