SAIC Joins GSA's Logworld Logistics Contract

Science Applications International Corp. has been awarded a place on the General Services Administration's Logistics Worldwide (Logworld) contract to provide a variety of logistics solutions to federal agencies, the company announced today.


Logworld is a multiple award schedule intended to qualify vendors to assist federal agencies looking to improve operational efficiencies and minimize costs.


SAIC, headquartered in San Diego, Calif., estimated the value of the award at $240 million over five years. SAIC will compete for task orders with other companies that also have been selected for the Logworld indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract schedule.


"The Logworld contract provides SAIC with an important vehicle to delivery high quality 'best-in-class' logistics support to the federal government," said Mark Ulander, SAIC's Logworld program manager.


The Logworld contract includes supply chain operation, acquisition support and prime vendor services. The contract also contains provisions allowing federal agencies to purchase new services as they are developed.


Among federal agencies, the Defense Department, National Institutes of Health and GSA have been looking into using Logworld, and new tasks are being planned by the Army at Fort Bragg, N.C., and the Air Force at Langley Air Force Base in Hampton, Va.


Including SAIC, 22 vendors have qualified for Logworld since it began in March. There is no deadline for application and no limit on the number of vendors that can win a spot on the GSA schedule.
