M/A-Com's Open Sky Wireless Private Network will be deployed by Lancaster County for public safety communications, the company said Dec. 21.
M/A-Com of Lowell, Mass., will provide Lancaster County with OpenSky infrastructure equipment, subscriber equipment and implementation services for a countywide, digital voice and data wireless network.
Lancaster County will benefit from an existing contract that M/A-Com has with Pennsylvania for its statewide communications network.
A cooperative purchasing program administered by Pennsylvania's Department of General Services allows local jurisdictions such as Lancaster County to gain certain economical and operational benefits when it enters into contracts with vendors holding statewide contracts.
M/A-Com is a unit of Tyco Electronics, which is a part of Tyco International Ltd., of Exeter, N.H. Tyco had more than 200,000 employees and sales of $28.9 billion in 2000, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas.
