Consulting Firm Nets $3.2 Million Contract in New Mexico

Folsom, Calif.-based ea consulting inc. has won a one-year, $3.2 million contract to implement SAP-developed financial and utility customer care and billing software for Farmington, N.M.

Folsom, Calif.-based ea consulting inc. has won a one-year, $3.2 million contract to implement SAP-developed financial and utility customer care and billing software for Farmington, N.M.

The company announced Dec. 21 that it will implement two parallel systems, mySAP.com and customer care software, developed by SAP AG of Waldorf, Germany.

According to ea consulting, mySAP.com includes modules for financial accounting, funds management, purchasing, inventory, project systems, plant maintenance, position control, human resources and benefits and payroll.

The customer care software will be installed for Farmington's electric utility department and will make it possible for citizens to pay their utility bills online.

"A major consideration was that SAP offered a complete solution that incorporated utilities," said Phil Smith, Farmington's administrative director. "The CCS solution offered by SAP is very attractive in the face of electric deregulation, as it allows the city to treat each customer as a separate contract."

There are about 100 full-time employees at ea consulting, said Deborah Lica, a company spokeswoman. The company is a SAP certified small government specialist and SAP national implementation partner. SAP AG has more than 21,000 employees and had sales of $5.1 billion in 1999, according to Hoover's Online, of Austin, Texas.
