The Texas Office of Court Administration will be seeking a vendor to provide satellite communications hardware for its integrated court network. The solicitation is expected in the first quarter of 2001.

The network will integrate different levels of state court records, which will be delivered via satellite. Currently, the courts supply the Office of Court Administration with monthly reports. The new system will allow immediate data transfer and integration. The network will involve 3,000 courts and 20,000 users.

The Washington State Department of Information Services is preparing a contract for information-technology technical support services to augment DIS' technical support staff. The solicitation is expected to be released in the first quarter of 2001.

This acquisition will be used to establish contracts with multiple vendors in each of several service categories including storage management, Unisys ClearPath, Microsoft products and Unix products.

The state of Florida's Workforce Florida Inc. plans to release a request for proposal to build the One Stop Management Information System. The solicitation is expected in the first quarter of 2001.

Florida's One-Stop Workforce Centers was created to combine career counseling, training, education, job search/placement, traditional income assistance and job benefits. The main task of the successful vendor will be integrating the information systems from the various agencies and boards.

The Ohio Highway Patrol is planning to upgrade its criminal justice information system workstations as part of the Law Enforcement Data System upgrade. The solicitation is expected in the first quarter of 2001.

The department plans to install Pentium II computers using Windows NT and running criminal justice-specific software.

Clarification: In the Oct. 9 issue, a project involving the Maryland State Transportation Authority was incorrectly described. The project, initially piloted with the Maryland State Police and other agencies, is managed solely by the Maryland State Transportation Authority. The State Police are no longer involved. The authority is seeking funding to implement an imaging system. According to state officials, funding may be available after September 2001.
