Maximus Wins $4.8 Million Tennessee Contract

Nov. 17 - Maximus Inc. has won a three-year, $4.8 million contract to provide Tennessee with a new-hire registry and employer database.


Maximus also announced Nov. 16 its earnings for fiscal year ending Sept. 30. For fiscal 2000, Maximus' total revenue increased 24.9 percent to $399.2 million from $319.5 million for fiscal 1999. Net income for fiscal 2000 was $30.5 million compared to $27.6 million the previous year.


McLean, Va.-based Maximus, through its new-acquired division, TMR Maximus, will provide Tennessee with statewide new-hire registry and will maintain the state's employer database. The contract has two one-year renewal options.


The new-hire registry is required under federal law to record basic data from all employers of newly hired workers. Information collected within the registry is matched against a database of individuals who owe child support. If a match occurs, the information is used to issue a new order for wages to be withheld and to update the employer's and the child support payer's address information.


Maximus' use of the Internet to transmit information from employers to the state and back was one reason the company won the contract, said Maximus Chief Executive Officer David Mastran.
