Lockheed Martin Wins $118 Million FBI Contract

NOV. 9 ? Lockheed Martin Corp. of Bethesda, Md. has won a contract worth up to $118 million to provide automated identification and information technology services for the FBI's Criminal Justice Information Services division in Clarksburg, W. Va.


Two Lockheed Martin operating units will provide a range of engineering, software and hardware support services to the FBI's Systems of Systems information Technology Services program.

The program combines operations and support of three major automated systems ñ the Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System, National Crime Information Center and National Instant Check System.


The five-year contract was completed under the Information Technology Omnibus Procurement (ITOP II) contracting mechanism managed by the Department of Transportation.


The three FBI automated systems provide a number of identification services to law enforcement and other agencies across the United States.


The fingerprint system provides positive identification services based on the FBI's criminal records and processes in excess of 50,000 queries daily against a database of 40 million individuals.


The crime information center serves more than 80,000 criminal justice agencies in the United States, providing law enforcement access to information ranging from stolen vehicles to gang activity and terrorism.


The instant check system provides federal firearm licensees with instant background checks on individuals applying to buy firearms.
