Keane Snags 'Millennia Lite' State Department Contract

NOV. 14 ? Keane Federal Systems, a subsidiary of Keane Inc., Boston, this week won a $54 million task order to provide information technology services to the State Department.


The task order requires Keane to provide information technology services to the Department of State's Office of Foreign Buildings Operations. Specifically, Keane will provide software engineering and production services.


Bidding criteria included the Office of Foreign Buildings Operations' goal to align its processes with a key software standard issued by the Software Engineering Institute of Pittsburgh.


Known as the Capability Maturity Model, the standard is designed to improve an organization's processes and its ability to manage the development, acquisition and maintenance of products and services.


"Keane's unparalleled success with the Capability Maturity Model and our established suite of methodologies for the management of the application software life cycle, software package selection and implementation and e-development were the important factors in the GSA's decision," said Glenn Giles, vice president of Keane Federal Systems.


The State Department work will be done under Keane's Millennia Lite contract, a $20 billion General Services Administration program won by about 20 companies to provide a broad range of IT services.

The State Department award is Keane's first under the contract, which it won in June.
