Army Enlists 13 Companies for STRICOM Contract

NOV. 27 ? Thirteen companies have been awarded the $4 billion Army Simulation, Training and Instrumentation Command contract to provide war games and automated simulations, Science Applications International Corp. announced Nov. 27.


Under this eight-year contract, known as the STRICOM Omnibus Contract, the companies will design, develop and test simulation systems and war games to help train the Army, maintain combat readiness and plan for future missions.


Input Inc., a Chantilly, Va.-based research firm, said the winning companies are: Advanced Systems Technology Inc., the Aegis Technologies Group Inc., BMH Associates Inc., Coleman Research Corp., Colsa Corp., Computer Sciences Corp., GRC International Inc., Lockheed Martin Corp., Logicon Inc., Motorola Inc., TASC Inc., Science Applications International Corp. and TRW Inc.


The work will be performed in Orlando, Fla., focusing on four business areas:


*Live ? testing and training to simulate experiences during actual operational conditions.


*Virtual ? replication of warfighting equipment with the capability to test and train in a specific environment.


*Constructive ? representing actions of people and systems in simulation.


*Test-instrumentation ? test materiel, systems and weapons in a developmental testing environment.
