Washington County Awards Fingerprint Contract

OCT. 23 ? Identix Inc., a provider of biometric authentication, security and identification solutions, has won a $1 million contract to provide King County, Wash., with an integrated fingerprint identification system.



Identix of Sunnyvale, Calif., announced Oct. 19 that King County is buying 22 NEC LS 21 workstations that combine an automated fingerprint identification system manufactured by NEC Technologies Inc. of Sacramento, Calif., with Identix Live Scan technology.



Police in King County will use the workstations to identify fingerprints. The technology also will allow the records to be processed through the state's automated system.



Meanwhile, Identix also announced it had received a follow-on order worth more than $800,000 from the Internal Revenue Service for 17 Identix TouchPrint 600 Live Scan systems.

These new systems are in addition to the 34 Identix TP-600 systems the IRS is using. The new systems will be used to process background checks for prospective IRS employees, said Identix.



"These awards are significant because they represent further penetration by Indentix into new markets as well as continued support by current customers for our ... technology," said Daniel Dellegrotti, Identix's imaging division vice president and general manager.



Identix's live scan imaging systems are deployed in more than 30 states for law enforcement purposes and employee application processes, said Dellegrotti.
