SAIC Wins $70 Million Education Department Contract

OCT. 19 ? A team led by Science Applications International Corp. was awarded a $70 million task order under the Education Department's Information Technology Support Services blanket purchase agreement.
The EDNet Management Support Services contract lasts one year with an option for four additional years. SAIC's team members are Advanced Technology Systems of McLean, Va., and TFE Technology of Bountiful, Utah.
The SAIC team will provide the Education Department with IT services to manage, support and improve EDNet, an IT service delivery infrastructure used by Education employees.
ConnectED, an intranet system that provides EDNet users connectivity to the Internet, will also be managed and supported by the contract. Other services provided by the team include standard office automation software, enterprisewide e-mail, desktop computers and several custom business applications and information systems.
The SAIC team also will be responsible for ensuring that EDNet is capable of exchanging and processing data and information, including voice and video with students, parents, teachers, schools, grantees, partners and state and local education agencies.
Other IT services to be provided are program management, network maintenance, wire and cable installation and maintenance, help desk operations, remote access and telecommuting support and systems engineering services.
