Lockheed Martin Garners Training Systems Deal

OCT. 2 ? Lockheed Martin Corp. of Bethesda, Md., announced it was awarded a Navy contract of about $28 million to design, build and deliver the first EA-6B Weapons System Trainer that can be reconfigured.
Lockheed Martin provides a variety of training systems, including virtual and live systems, to military and commercial customers.
The fixed-price contract is valued at up to $98 million with options. Under the agreement, Lockheed Martin Information Systems will develop performance specifications for a suite of training products for the aircraft that will cover weapons, operational flight and navigation, team tactics and maintenance.
The contract was awarded under the Navy's Training Systems Contract by the Naval Air System Command through the Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division. At the training systems division in Orlando, Fla., about 1,000 employees work to develop and acquire high-tech training systems for Navy personnel.
"This award enables Lockheed Martin to bring technologies developed on the U.S. Marine Corps Aviation Master Simulation Plan to the U.S. Navy," said John Hallal, president of Lockheed Martin Information Systems. "Our comprehensive training and simulation portfolio offers cost savings through the use of Lockheed Martin's core software architecture and graphics systems."
Work will be performed in Orlando. Delivery is scheduled for March 2003.
