Gelco To Keep Defense Department, NASA Travel on the Move

OCT. 10 ? Gelco Information Network, an e-business travel management company, will implement its Travel Manager technology for the Army and Air Force Exchange System and the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Financial terms of the agreements were not disclosed.


Gelco of Minneapolis will replace the Defense Department's AAFES legacy travel system with its Travel Manager, making business travel planning, approvals, audits and expense reports available through the Web. The system is expected to manage 20,000 official business trips each year.


The JPL system is also expected to handle 20,000 business trips a year. JPL is a center for robotic exploration of the solar system. Gelco's Travel Manager will integrate and connect to JPL's financial management and human resources systems. Gelco's software allows for a paperless environment and interfaces with all government financial systems.


"Migration of Web-based solutions is indicative of the current strategic direction businesses are moving toward to realize greater efficiencies and cost effectiveness," said Daniel Ragheb, vice president of marketing for Gelco.


Gelco Information Network is a subsidiary of HG Holdings of Minneapolis, a company specializing in products and services for mobile employees. Gelco Travel Manager is used by government travelers for more than 1.8 million business trips a year.
