OCT. 20 ? CACI International Inc. of Arlington, Va., is boosting its networking capabilities with the planned purchase of the federal business of Net.com, formerly Network Technologies Inc. of Fremont, Calif.

The acquisition, which is expected to close by the end of the year, brings CACI $50 million in new revenue and expands the company's network service capabilities and customer base among defense and civilian agencies.

The cash deal is valued at $25 million, but CACI will have to pay another $15 million in a year if certain milestones are met. Net.com also can reap another $10 million over the next five years through royalties.

The acquisition supports CACI's strategic plans for expansion of both the client base and solutions set within its network services capabilities, company officials said.

The division, known as NET Federal Inc., has 185 employees, about 90 percent of which have secret or top secret clearances. The division provides secure network services including network engineering and design, implementation, installation, and integration, as well as network maintenance and management.

Clients include intelligence agencies and major departments within the government.
