Lockheed Martin Lands $251 Million Navy Deal

SEPT. 6 ? The Navy awarded Lockheed Martin Corp. a $251 million, 10-year contract for systems engineering, activation, operations and maintenance support services at the Surface Combat Systems Center, Wallops Island, Va.



Lockheed Martin's Systems Support & Training Services unit will be responsible for providing engineering services to add new equipment cruisers, destroyers, aircraft carriers and other combat systems as they are introduced into the Navy's fleet.

The Bethesda, Md., company also will provide technical support, planning, engineering experiments and testing.



"We are proud to continue our support of the Navy's maritime mission," said David Posek, president of Lockheed Martin Systems Support & Training Services.



Various Lockheed Martin businesses teamed up for the contract. Its Naval Electronics and Surveillance Systems, Moorestown, N.J., a Navy combat systems integrator, partnered with the Systems Support & Training Services to help with technical capabilities.

The Lockheed Martin team also includes Litton-PRC Inc. of McLean Va., and Logicon Inc., a Northrop Grumman Corp. company, of Los Angeles.
