Computer Sciences Wins FAA Deal

JULY 31 ? Computer Sciences Corp. has been awarded a contract by the Federal Aviation Administration to provide en route software development support, the El Segundo, Calif.-based company reported July 31.


The three-year, time-and-materials contract, which has two one-year options, will be worth $329 million if all options are exercised.


Since April 1, CSC has announced new business awards of more than $4 billion, according to Van Honeycutt, chairman, president and chief executive officer of the consulting and IT services firm. "This award underscores continued strong demand for our services," Honeycutt said.


Under this new contract, CSC will provide systems support for the Host Computer System, Aeronautical Data Link, Air Traffic Management Systems, NAS Infrastructure, Department Spacing Program and Center-TRACON Automation System, providing technologies in support of the FAA Free Flight Program and en route automation.


CSC's services will include engineering and analysis, software development, deployment and maintenance and network system design. CSC also will provide system integration services, including training, deployment, logistics and maintenance.


Work will be performed by CSC's Civil Group, headquartered in Falls Church, Va., and involve approximately 400 CSC engineers, computer specialists and experts in quality assurance, configuration management and database architecture.
