AMS, SAIC Win Deals from Texas Human Services

AUG. 18 ? Texas has awarded a pair of contracts to American Management Systems Inc. and Science Applications International Corp. for the development of an IT system that determines the eligibility of state residents to receive health and human services.


The Texas Department of Human Services Aug. 18 awarded a one-year, $4.9 million contract to AMS of Fairfax, Va., to provide services to assist the Texas Integrated Eligibility Redesign System team with conceptual design, the option for all or part of the detailed design for the first stage pilot, and an additional option for the pilot's development.


SAIC of San Diego received a one-year, $1.5 million contract to provide independent validation and verification services. The contract includes options that would extend it until 2007.


AMS is an international business and information technology consulting firm providing next-generation enterprise business and technology solutions to improve business performance and create value for clients. AMS has more than 9,000 employees and 59 offices. In 1999, AMS had sales of more than $1.24 billion, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas.


SAIC is an employee-owned research and engineering company providing IT and systems integration products and services to government and commercial customers. SAIC reported sales of more than $5.5 billion in 2000, according the Hoover's. SAIC has more than 40,000 employees in more than 150 offices.
