Online job search and recruiting sites Headhunter.net and CareerMosaic merged July 19. The new company's combined Web sites will serve 6 million visitors per month, making it the No. 2 online job site, according to Headhunter.net.

The combined sites will feature more than 250,000 job listings from more than 10,000 em-
ployers.

"Our goal is to become the No. 1 job awareness destination on the Web," dislodging Monster.com from the spot, said Bob Montgomery, Headhunter.net's president and chief executive officer.

Headhunter.net is based in Atlanta. CareerMosaic is in Palo Alto, Calif. The two sites will be-come one under the Headhunter.net name Sept. 1.Small companies can help close the digital divide between the computer haves and have nots, said Steve Heckler, president of WestLake Internet Training.

WestLake, an Arlington, Va., Web-development training company with offices in five U.S. cities, enlisted the help of America's Promise, the national youth development organization, to create a free, four-day computer camp for 12 Washington middle school students in July.

America's Promise helped build a coalition comprised of WestLake, the Washington law firm of Baker, Donelson, Bearman & Caldwell, Microsoft Corp. of Redmond, Wash., and Technology Totems Inc. of College Park, Md.

Together, the companies provided each student with a computer as well as software, time and talent.

"Learning Web development skills will hopefully give these young people the inspiration and the confidence to pursue careers in information technology," Heckler said.New company Info-stop.com is aiming to make work easier for company decision-makers with its offering of customized research reports, summaries, abstracts and PowerPoint presentations online.

The Hamilton, Va., firm launched July 10. Its researchers, writers and presentation designers have expertise in a variety of disciplines, including e-commerce, market research, telecommunications and legislation.

"There is an overwhelming amount of hard-to-find data on the Internet. It may take the novice researcher several hours to pinpoint what we can find in a matter of minutes," said Chief Executive Officer Sandy Nelson, a veteran of IBM Corp. and America Online.
