Defense Picks 11 to Protect Its Computer Systems

JULY 28 ? The Defense Department has tapped 11 companies to be primary providers of information security services to the military. Nine large companies and two small companies won the Defense Information Systems Agency's $1.5 billion Information Assurance Services contract.


Under the seven-year contract, the companies will compete for work in task areas, such as policy, planning and project management; architecture and engineering support; installation and operation; training and awareness; and computer network attack and defense.


The large companies winning a spot were:

Affiliated Computer Services Inc. of Dallas

Computer Sciences Corp. of El Segundo, Calif.

Electronic Data Systems Corp. of Plano, Texas

Litton-TASC Inc. of Chantilly, Va.

Logicon Inc. of Herndon, Va.

Science Applications International Corp. of San Diego

SRA International Inc. of Fairfax, Va.

Veridian Inc. of Alexandria, Va.

Wang Government Services Inc. of McLean, Va.


The small businesses winning were Artel Inc., Reston, Va., and Pragmatics Inc. of McLean.
