CIBER Is Keystone of Pa. Game Web Site

JULY 5 ? CIBER Inc. of Englewood, Colo., has been selected by Pennsylvania's Fish and Boat Commission and Game Commission to develop and implement a joint e-commerce Web site, company officials announced July 5.


The project, which will enable the selling of hunting and fishing licenses, merchandise and magazine subscriptions over the Internet, is one of Pennsylvania's first e-commerce efforts. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Hunting licenses will be sold online by Sept. 1, and all other services will be active by Dec. 1, CIBER spokeswoman Lisa Kerby said


Residents both in and out of state will be able to order hunting and fishing licenses online. Pennsylvania residency will be verified via a real-time connection to the state's Department of Transportation.


In addition, boaters will be able to submit their watercraft registration renewals online, and subscribers to the commissions' magazines will be able to renew their subscriptions online.


"We chose CIBER as our systems integrator for this project due to the comprehensive solution offered and their demonstrated technical experience and expertise in Internet-based electronic commerce applications," said Robert Strailey, chief technology officer of the Game Commission.


CIBER has undertaken other projects for Pennsylvania in the past year, including tax-form imaging for the Department of Revenue and a Web-based health insurance enrollment and eligibility system for the Department of Insurance Children's Health Care Program.
