AMS Brings Wisconsin Tax Services Online

JUNE 28 ? American Management Systems Inc. announced June 27 that is has signed a two-year, $12 million contract to bring online the sales and use tax component of the Wisconsin Department of Revenue's Integrated Tax System.


The project, known as Open DOR, will make available on the Internet services such as registration, tax return processing, taxpayer accounting and revenue accounting.


The new component is part of a seven-year initiative by the revenue department to streamline its business systems and improve customer service. It will help the department increase voluntary compliance, improve efficiency and fairness in tax collection and distribution, and increase customer satisfaction, according to Fairfax, Va.-based AMS.


Open DOR also will accommodate future legislative and regulatory initiatives and will provide citizens with the ability to amend returns online.

"As one of the nation's leading revenue organizations, the Wisconsin DOR is well positioned with this implementation to respond to the e-government imperative and accomplish this ambitious transition to customer-facing government through integrated tax solutions."


AMS plans to customize the Enterprise JavaBean version of its Advantage Revenue solution to meet the department's business requirements for sales and tax use. AMS' Advantage Revenue is a large-scale, integrated client-server tax system designed to support electronic interaction and transaction between states and citizens.


In addition to the Wisconsin deal, the AMS Advantage Revenue solution is operational in Kansas and Vermont and under implementation in Hawaii and Virginia.
