McLean, Va.-based Federal Sources Inc., a Primedia company, named James Kane its new president and chief executive officer. Kane most recently served as vice president of integrated business solutions for GTE's DynCorp Information Systems LLC, where he was responsible for Web-related business initiatives.

Federal Sources provides a source for business development information for the government marketplace. Primedia is a targeted media company reaching consumer and business-to-business audiences through print, Internet, live events, video and radio.

Pathnet of Washington appointed Sally Gamett chief information officer. She is a 20-plus year veteran in the information technology industry and was most recently with Intermedia Communications Inc.

At Intermedia, Gamett was director of information systems consulting since 1997. She was responsible for directing the assessment of the business' needs for operational systems.

Pathnet provides competitive local access services and high-capacity, digital transport to underserved and second- and third-tier U.S. cities.

Tripwire Inc., Portland, Ore., appointed Bill Stover director of government sales. In his new position, Stover will concentrate on expanding Tripwire's presence in the government market.

Stover brings more than 35 years of experience in government sales and marketing in the information technology industry. Before joining Tripwire, Stover was a senior director at Symantec Corp., responsible for sales to government and educational institutions, government contractors and government affairs.

Tripwire provides integrity assessment security solutions for e-commerce and e-business corporations as well as government agencies.

Electronic Data Systems Corp., Plano, Texas, announced that Ralph Stewart joined the company as Information Solutions' vice president of marketing and portfolio management.

Stewart has more than 25 years of experience in the information technology industry. He arrived from The Sabre Group, where he most recently served as general manager and senior vice president of Information Technology Solutions.

Information Solutions, one of four EDS lines of business, offers clients services for application and systems development and integration, Internet solutions and voice and data communications, as well as legacy, computing and desktop management services.

CybeRecord Inc., Bellevue, Wash., appointed Peter Adler marketing director of its automatic microfilm digitization products to the government sector.

Adler has more than 20 years of executive management experience in information technology sales and marketing to both the public and private sectors. He was most recently with Unisys Corp.'s Federal Systems Division, where he had sales responsibility for system integration and professional services within the State Department and special programs at the Social Security Administration.

CybeRecord develops and manufactures products that automate and enhance digitization of microfilm records, allowing this information to be shared via the Internet, intranets and extranets.

Atlanta-based ezgov.com announced that William Maner will join the company as chief financial officer. Maner comes to ezgov.com from Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, where he was a principal in the corporate finance department.

Founded in 1999, ezgov.com builds electronic government services that bring local and state government activities to the Internet.

Professional services firm Grant Thornton, Washington, hired Amy Amos as an assurance manager for the Government Contracts Business Services Practice.

Amos was previously with Computer Technology Associates where she dealt exclusively with the Defense Contract Audit Agency on cost accounting standards and Federal Acquisitions Regulations issues.Legislative Demographic Services Inc., Arlington, Va., has promoted Edward Grefe to vice president of communications programs. Grefe, an author, political consultant, graduate-level teacher and speaker, is a 30-year veteran of public affairs and corporate grassroots programs. He will be responsible for directing the company's communications and consulting practices for its corporate and nonprofit customers.
