Halifax Will Sell Outsourcing Division

MAY 2 - Halifax Corp., Alexandria, Va., signed a letter of intent to sell its operational outsourcing division to U.S. Facilities Inc., Philadelphia, a facilities maintenance and operational outsourcing company.



The sale of the division, which generates $25 million in annual revenue and has 275 employees, will cos
t U.S. Facilities $5.5 million and is expected to close by May 31.

"Although the outsourcing division was profitable, it did not complement our revised strategic direction," said Charles McNew, acting president and chief executive officer of Halifax. "We believe our emphasis and investment should be squarely focused on the high-growth segments of the IT solutions market."


Halifax Corp. provides information technology services to commercial and government customers. Government contracts account for about 45 percent of sales, and clients include the Army and the Virginia Lottery.

Among its services are integration, engineering, installation, maintenance and training for computer, communications and simulator systems. Its government and commercial customers include military bases, prisons and office complexes.
