APRIL 18 ? Acquisition-minded Maximus Inc. of McLean, Va., has made another deal, this time acquiring AssetWorks Inc. of San Antonio, a software development firm that specializes in infrastructure management systems.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Maximus is picking up about 50 employees and $8 million in additional revenue.

AssetWorks brings Maximus solutions for facility, asset and fleet management capabilities. AssetWorks has customers in the markets of federal, state and local government, universities and K-12 education.

Maximus is a $320 million a year IT consulting and program management company that focuses primarily on the state and local government market. AssetWorks will become part of the existing CSI-Maximus division.

"Our public-sector clients will now be able to one-stop shop for the management of all of their physical assets, including their buildings, outside plant assets and fleet," said James Paulits, president of CSI-Maximus.

"Governments at all levels are challenged to manage and maintain a valuable asset infrastructure. Combined with the existing fleet management capabilities of our CSI-Maximus division and the asset valuation capabilities of VRM-Maximus, the acquisition of AssetWorks will enable Maximus to now provide a complete government asset management solution," said David Mastran, Maximus chief executive.

The AssetWorks deal is just the latest for Maximus. In early April, the company bought the government services division of 3G International Inc. of Springfield, Va., a smart-card company. The company has made eight other acquisitions in the past year.
