EDS Picks Edmunds for Government Unit Job

Electronic Data Systems Corp. has reshuffled its government lineup again, naming Albert Edmunds vice president of EDS Global Government Group. He replaces George Newstrom, who is taking the reins of the Plano, Texas-based company's Asian operations.In his new role, Edmunds will oversee the expansion of EDS' government business, which represents about $3.1 billion of the integrator's $16.9 billion in annual revenue. "I will be what we call a super client executive," said Edmunds, who will report to EDS President Jeff Heller. "It will be my job to make sure our clients are satisfied and that they succeed."Edmunds, one of seven company vice presidents who serve as market sector experts, also will focus on bringing best practices from EDS to the government business. "If something worked well in the United Kingdom, for example, it will be my responsibility to bring it to the rest of the company," he said.Edmunds will not have operational responsibilities. Those duties remain with the heads of the business units in various countries. In the United States, EDS Federal is headed by William Dvoranchik, who reports to Douglas Frederick, president of EDS Information Solutions.
