TRW Systems & Information Technology Group, Reston, Va., named Jerry Agee vice president and general manager of the company's Federal Enterprise Solutions Strategic Business Unit. The unit provides engineering, information technology and electronic government services to agencies such as the Census Bureau, Federal Aviation Administration, the Internal Revenue Service and Treasury Department. Agee will direct the unit's growth and overall business development and strategic planning.

Raytheon Systems Co., Arlington, Va., promoted Charles Ream to the newly created position of senior vice president of strategic initiatives, mergers and acquisitions. Previously, he was Raytheon Systems' senior vice president of finance. He will be succeeded by Gary McCauley, who was vice president of finance for Raytheon's Command, Control, Communication and Information Systems segment in Marlborough, Mass. In addition, parent company Raytheon Co. of Lexington, Mass., named David Myers president and chief operating officer of Raytheon Engineers & Constructors, also of Lexington.
Essential Technologies Inc, Rockville Md., hired Steve Drill as vice president of development and Steve Lorenc as vice president of marketing. Drill will oversee software strategy, design and development. Lorenc will oversee marketing, strategic planning and new business development. Essential Technologies provides software solutions for corporations and government agencies.

International executive recruiting firm Russell Reynolds Associates, New York, appointed Clarke Havener as executive director. He will serve clients in the systems integration, aerospace, defense, professional services and consulting industries from the firm's Washington office.

Aurora Enterprise Solutions, a software development and computer-consulting firm in Reston, Va., hired Terri Hall as vice president of business development for government programs and services. She will be responsible for leading the company's business development group by expanding the government and corporate client base and implementing new internal and external marketing strategies. Previously, she was the business development manager for Innerbase Technologies Inc. of Clifton, Va.

Comsat Corp., Bethesda, Md., named Jay Ziegler vice president of corporate communications. He also will oversee the marketing communications programs for the satellite services and digital networking services divisions of the company. Previously, he was the assistant U.S. trade representative for public affairs in the Executive Office of the President, Office of the U.S. Trade Representative.

Karen Frey joined the information technology division of PricewaterhouseCoopers, New York, where she will work on public relations. Previously, she was the director of public communications for the American Electronics Association.

STG Inc., an information technology and professional services company based in Fairfax, Va., hired J.D. Wininger Jr. as senior vice president of finance and administration and chief financial officer. Most recently, he served as business manager with DynCorp, Reston, Va.

Former Sen. Larry Pressler joined Net2000 Communications, Herndon, Va., as senior adviser. Pressler was the author of the Telecommunications Act of 1996. Net2000 is a competitive local exchange carrier and integrated communications provider.

Scottish Enterprise, Herndon, Va., the economic development agency for Scotland, appointed Janice Gerry as business development director of the Scottish Technology and Research Center at Virginia's Center for Innovative Technology. The STAR Center is a technology business incubator that helps Scottish technology companies develop U.S. business.

Veridian Inc., Alexandria, Va., appointed Joel Birnbaum former chief scientist for Hewlett-Packard, and former astronaut Sally Ride to its board of directors. Veridian is a privately owned company that develops and applies advanced information technologies to the government and commercial markets.

Grant Thornton LLP, an international accounting and consulting firm with offices in Vienna, Va., appointed Jim DiModica as director of business services in support of the firm's technology, services and telecommunications practice. The firm provides audit, tax and financial services as well as management and technology consulting to the technology, telecommunications, not-for-profit, public sector and corporate finance markets.

George Stack joined Colmen Menard Co., Bala Cynwyd, Pa., as managing director. Colmen Menard Co. is a private investment banking firm that provides merger and acquisition, intermediary, corporate finance and business advisory services to public and private middle-market companies. Stack will focus on providing investment banking services and consulting to high-technology businesses, particularly those that provide computer hardware and software products and services, communications, professional services, manufacturing and distribution.

Mari Shaw signed on as partner in the litigation section of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, Philadelphia. Her practice will focus on strategic planning for technology and intellectual property driven companies and the resolution of their disputes.
