Virginia's Center for Innovative Technology is conducting a nationwide search for a new president and CEO to replace former president Robert Templin, who resigned in April.

Don Upson, secretary of technology, said the successful candidate will have a chance to shape the future of Virginia. "Working with fast-growing technology companies and supporting innovative uses of technology is critical to the commonwealth's position as a global technology leader," he said.

Candidates must have at least 10 years of management experience, experience in creating or applying innovative technology, a bachelor's degree and, preferably, an advanced degree in management or a technology-related field. CIT board member Pat Woolsey heads the search committee. To learn more about the position, visit www.cit.org. CIT expects to make a decision in July.
Virginia's first technology business incubator for international companies opened its doors June 8. The Scottish Technology and Research (STAR) Center, in Virginia's Center for Innovative Technology, will assist Scottish technology companies entering the U.S. market through the Virginia gateway.

According to Don Upson, the state's secretary of technology, the center will give Virginia companies access to potential strategic partners from Scotland to penetrate the U.K. and European markets. The center is funded by the development agency Scottish Enterprise and by Scottish Trade International. Additional funding comes from the European Commission and participating companies.
