Contracts

Harris Corp., Melbourne, Fla., won an $18 million contract from the Navy Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command for high-frequency radio communications systems. If all contract options are exercised, the contract value could increase to $91 million.

Harris' RF Communications Division in Rochester, N.Y., will supply high-frequency broadband communications systems for Navy warships. The contract is part of the Navy's effort to update and automate its systems.

The Rochester division also won a separate $16 million contract from Public Works and Government Services Canada for communications transmission equipment to update and automate the Canadian navy's coastal radio stations.

Harris will supply high- and low-frequency transmitters, a distributed remote control network, installation and test services, and integrated logistics support. The new equipment will provide continuous data and voice communications for Canadian naval vessels, military aircraft and maritime patrol craft. The stations are located on the East Coast near Halifax and in the Vancouver area on the West Coast.
GroupTech, Tampa, Fla., won a $776,000 contract from Northrop Grumman's Electronics & Systems Integration Division in Hawthorne, Calif., to manufacture and test subassemblies for the Army BAT program.

BAT is an anti-armor submunition that uses acoustic and infrared sensors to find, attack and destroy moving tanks and other armored vehicles deep in enemy territory. Northrop Grumman is the prime contractor for the BAT program to the Army Aviation and Missile Command, Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Ala.
Force 3 Inc., Crofton, Md., won a contract from the General Services Administration to replace the existing network infrastructure at Brooke Army Medical Center in Fort Sam Houston, Texas, with a multivendor ATM network.

The contract covers installation and equipment and has a potential value of $7.3 million over a four-year lease period. The project is scheduled to be completed in August 1999.
ITS Services Inc., Springfield, Va., won a $40 million blanket purchase agreement from the U.S. Customs Service to provide network and communications services.

The contract will provide support to Customs Service sites in the Washington area as well as field sites worldwide.

The BPA was a competitive award under the General Services Administration's Federal Supply Service schedule contract for information technology services.
