Technical services firm to help Navy’s next-generation frigate with planning, design, delivery and testing.

Serco Inc. has won a $96 million contract to continue supporting the Navy’s Constellation-class shipping building effort.

The Constellation class is the next generation of guide missile vessels. Serco provides technical services to support planning, design, construction, delivery and testing of the ships and ship systems.

"At Serco, we understand the critical importance of these new platforms, and we're committed to supporting their mission readiness with our expertise in advanced maritime systems engineering and support services,” said CEO Tom Watson.

Fincantieri Marinette Marine is building the first ship, the Constellation. Design work began in 2020 and construction started in 2022, but the program is now behind schedule because of significant design changes.

The Navy designed the ship to be a “blue-water” vessel, meaning it can operate in deep waters of open oceans.
