General Dynamics IT's pact with IonQ will focus on areas such as geospatial and sensor data processing, fraud detection, and health research.
General Dynamics' IT services unit has formed a strategic collaboration agreement with a commercial tech company focused on quantum computing.
GDIT and IonQ will work together on developing advanced quantum processing and networking applications for defense, intelligence and civilian sectors.
Both companies see opportunities in areas such as the processing of geospatial and sensor data, enhancing fraud and anomaly detection in large datasets, and optimizing supply chains.
Health research is another area because of the ability to model complex biological systems and test potential treatments more quickly.
“Quantum computing represents a transformative opportunity for our government clients to solve previously impossible challenges,” GDIT's chief technology officer Ben Gianni said in a release Wednesday.
GDIT and IonQ have already worked together on a project with an unnamed intelligence agency that focused on quantum readiness. They used quantum and AI technologies to improve that agency’s data analysis and mission capabilities.
In 2023, GDIT unveiled a strategy to deepen relationships with commercial tech companies.
