SAIC appoints YouTube exec to board

SAIC has added a 10th person to its board in YouTube's lead health care executive Garth Graham.

Science Applications International Corp. has appointed Garth Graham to its board of directors. Graham is the global head of health care for YouTube.

With this appointment, SAIC’s board grows from nine members to 10. Graham will become a member of the board’s human resources and compensation committee, SAIC said Tuesday.

Graham joined YouTube in January and before that was the chief community health officer for CVS Health Corp. He also has been president of the Aetna Foundation and vice president for community health.

The appointment of Graham is a sign of how seriously SAIC is looking at health care as an area to expand into. In a recent interview for the Washington Technology Project 38 podcast, SAIC executive Bob Genter said health care is an area where the company is underserving the market.

He said the company wants to grow there organically, but added “the opportunity is so big that it requires an acquisition.”
