Science Applications International Corp. hires a new software practice lead in Bob Ritchie, formerly of Capital One.

Science Applications International Corp. said Monday it has hired Bob Ritchie, formerly of Capital One, to return to SAIC as head of its software practice in a move effective immediately.

He started his career as a tech lead for SAIC and succeeds Kevin Ikeda, who will retire this month. Ritchie will report to Josh Jackson, executive vice president and general manager of SAIC’s solutions and technology group.

In his new role, Ritchie will oversee strategies and investments related to software solutions; development, integration, and sustainment of software applications; and migration of legacy code and apps to new environments.

SAIC said it has nearly 3,000 software professionals on staff that specialize in areas such as application modernization, complex, agile software development processes such as DevSecOps and software acceleration, mission and enterprise software, intelligent software, and cloud native applications.

At Capital One, Ritchie was director of software engineering with responsibility over 500 professionals and led the bank to migrate almost 400 of its applications into an Amazon Web Services cloud environment.
