DOD makes last awards on $28B tech R&D contract

The Defense Department has made its third and final round of awards against a potential nine-year, $28 billion contract for technology research-and-development services.

This latest batch of awards went to 10 companies for Pool 2 of DOD's large Information Analysis Center Multiple-Award Contract also known as IAC-MAC. DOD awarded this pool as a small business set-aside, the department said in its Thursday contract awards digest.

Pool 2 awardees are:

  • Agile Innovative Solutions joint venture
  • Barbaricum
  • BRTRC Federal Solutions
  • Data Systems Analysis
  • Delta Constellation Group
  • Integrity Applications
  • Naval Systems
  • Sonalysts
  • Systems Planning and Analysis-Envisioneering
  • Varen Technologies

All IAC-MAC work is scheduled to kick off on Sept. 30, pending protests against the Pool 3 awards. DOD awarded Pool 1 in August to 15 companies and Pool 3 in July to three nonprofit entities that will focus on weapons of mass destruction defense.

IAC-MAC is run by the Defense Technical Information Center, a DOD field activity responsible for the preservation and distribution of research information related to military technology. DTIC also manages the Information Analysis Center network that provides technical analysis and data support to the service branches, combatant commands, DOD agencies and senior Pentagon civilian leadership.

Task areas include cybersecurity, weapon systems, autonomous systems, critical infrastructure, biometrics and medical-related services.

IAC-MAC is a consolidation of research services performed under 40 contracts in three predecessor vehicles.
