Five firms to battle for Coast Guard services deal

Five companies will compete for a $104 million Coast Guard financial management contract.

The contractors will likely perform the work at Coast Guard offices in Washington, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, Kansas and California, BearingPoint said.For BearingPoint, the contract follows a similar financial services support award from the Homeland Security Department's Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency worth up to $47.7 million if all options are exercised.

Five companies have won contracts to provide financial management services to the Coast Guard under a blanket purchase agreement worth $104 million.

The companies ? AOC Solutions Inc., BearingPoint Inc., Grant Thornton LLP, Kforce Government Solutions Inc. and PricewaterhouseCoopers ? will compete for task orders over the next five years, a Coast Guard spokeswoman said.

The work will support the Coast Guard's Office of Financial Policy and Systems and the Office of Financial Transformation and Compliance.

According to a press release from BearingPoint, the services will include:

  • Improving internal controls and accountability over financial business processes.
  • Strengthening the Coast Guard's financial reporting policies and procedures.
  • Transforming human resource strategy to improve the Coast Guard's financial management workforce.
