Chertoff names advisory council

Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff appointed former FBI Director Louis Freeh and Robert L. Woodson Sr. as new members of the Homeland Security Advisory Council.

Judge Freeh served as FBI director from September 1993 to June 2001. He currently is president of The Freeh Group.

Woodson is the president of the Center for Neighborhood Enterprise, which he founded in 1981. He served as a resident fellow at the American Enterprise Institute.

In addition, Chertoff named Washington Republican State Senator Joe Zarelli to the council's senior advisory committee for state and local officials.

The council's privacy sector senior advisory committee will add as a member Jean Spence, executive vice president of global technology and quality for Kraft Foods Inc.

The council's emergency responders senior advisory committee will be joined by former Sheriff Dan Corsentino of Pueblo, Colorado.

The council and senior advisory councils are panels of experts from state and local governments, private sector and academia that advise Chertoff.
