New Orleans re-ups ACS for Water Board IT support

Affiliated Computer Services Inc. will continue to furnish IT services to the New Orleans Sewerage and Water Board under a contract renewal worth $4.5 million.

ACS of Dallas will manage operations, applications maintenance, mainframe and network administration, and new application development for the board's IT department.

As part of its previous work, ACS set up a LAN/WAN environment, completed three major mainframe migrations, and developed and maintained a customer accounts management system.

The company also developed and maintained the board's Web site, established video streaming of board and committee meetings, produced electronic reports for different departments and deployed more than 1,000 PCs.

ACS specializes in IT and business process outsourcing. The company, which has about 55,000 employees and had annual sales of $5.3 billion in fiscal 2006, ranks No. 48 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list of the largest federal IT contractors.
