DataPath buys wireless network company

DataPath Inc. has acquired Third Rail Americas Inc., a wireless broadband network provider. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The acquisition lets DataPath add to its current military communications expertise to deliver better solutions to civilian government customers.

The purchase gives DataPath new ways to extend the reach of its satellite communications networks through the so-called last mile with wireless solutions. Third Rail's wireless technologies and expertise will enhance DataPath's support of multiple wireless networking frequencies, including those reserved for civilian first responders.

DataPath, a privately held global telecommunications systems integrator specializing in satellite earth terminals and network solutions, is based in Duluth, Ga. The company is ranked No. 95 on Washington Technology's 2005 Top 100 list of the largest government contractors.
