EDS, Mubadala win Persian Gulf outsourcing venture

A joint venture between EDS Corp. and a company in the United Arab Emirates won a 10-year, $110 million IT contract with the water and electricity authority of the city of Abu Dhabi.

EDS is partnering with Mubadala Development Co., a public, joint stock company established and wholly owned by the government of Abu Dhabi. Its mission is to invest in commercially viable, strategic, industrial and commercial partnerships.

Their joint venture, known as Injazat Data Systems, will assume responsibility for all IT requirements of the water and electricity authority's group of companies. Injazat will furnish the authority with integrated IT services, including infrastructure and application management, and new project management and delivery.

EDS of Plano, Texas, has more than 117,000 employees and annual sales of $20.7 billion in fiscal 2005. The company ranks No. 6 on Washington Technology's 2005 Top 100 list of federal prime contractors.
