Minimize your cables

CommScope Inc. is offering a new cable aimed at users who want to improve network performance while minimizing the number of cables in a system, said officials from the Hickory, N.C., company.

The indoor/outdoor plenum fiber -- fiber that can be run in the space for air circulation either in a dropped ceiling or raised floor -- will be offered by Uniprise and Systimax Solutions. The fiber will be offered in single-unit and multi-unit designs and will contain up to 144 fibers. The 900-micron, tight-buffered construction allows for direct termination, eliminating the need for additional preparation before termination.
