Security at sea

A provider of satellite-based tracking, tracing, messaging and security services for ships, trucks and utilities received Coast Guard approval for its Ocean Alert Ship Security Alert System.

Satamatics' ocean security system has panic buttons, test switches and backup power supplies, so crews can alert shore-side authorities of terrorist activity or piracy. Satamatics Ltd. is in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, England. The Coast Guard found the system to be compliant with its Navigation and Vessel Inspection Circulars.
