CSC wins deal to help defense biometrics center

Computer Sciences Corp. won a four-year, $52 million contract to provide technical support to the Defense Department's Biometrics Fusion Center, the company said today.

Computer Sciences Corp. won a four-year, $52 million contract to provide technical support to the Defense Department's Biometrics Fusion Center, the company said today.

Based in Clarksburg, W. Va., the center tests and evaluates biometric products, conducts market research, maintains data center operations and supports the Defense Department in implementing biometrics.

CSC will provide product evaluations, biometric technology and application research, standards requirements and conformance testing, program management, and educational outreach.

"This contract underscores CSC's extensive experience with security and advanced identity management," said Chris Steinbach, vice president of CSC's global security solutions unit.

CSC is a systems integrator in El Segundo, Calif. It is No. 3 on Washington Technology's 2004 Top 100 list of federal contractors, ranked according to their prime IT contracting revenue. The company employs about 90,000 workers and had revenue of $14.8 billion for the fiscal year ended April 2.
