The IRS' Integrated Financial System staff should improve transition planning and testing so that an enterprise financial management system is deployed successfully, according to a new report by the Treasury Department inspector general for tax administration.

IFS is the new general ledger and accounting system based on financial management software from SAP America Inc. of Newtown Square, Pa. The agency missed previous release dates last October and April, but officials at IRS and lead contractor Computer Sciences Corp. said the system is on track to roll out in October.
