Brief: AF wants weather UAVs

The Air Force wants unmanned air vehicles that can be used to gather weather data, specifically on tropical cyclones. They also would be used in areas such as hostile targets and arctic training ranges that are not accessible by other data collection means.

The system should include the UAV, weather sensor payloads, command and control functions, data distribution service, launch and recovery services and logistics. Data the Air Force wants to collect include wind direction and speed, temperature, humidity and atmospheric pressure. Responses to the notice are due April 15. Contact Alison Miki at alison.miki@
