Defense veteran joins Lockheed Martin's naval team

Retired Vice Adm. Martin J. Mayer, who spent 37 years with the Navy, has joined Lockheed Martin Corp. as vice president for command, control, communications, computers and intelligence.
In the job, which is a new post for the company, Mayer will oversee all C4I programs in Lockheed's naval electronics and surveillance systems group.
Mayer retired in January. In his most recent Defense Department post, he was deputy commander of the U.S. Joint Forces Command. Mayer previously was director of strategy, requirements and integration for the command and oversaw systems interoperability. He also served a stint as vice director of the Joint Chiefs of Staff for force structure, requirements and assessments.
Mayer has a bachelor's degree and a master's in business administration from Rutgers University.
