AI firm hires DIA vet as federal CTO

Find opportunities — and win them.

Artificial intelligence and data software firm Accrete brings in a former Defense Intelligence Agency executive to be the new federal chief technology officer.

Artificial intelligence and data software firm Accrete has hired former Defense Intelligence Agency executive Brian Drake as federal chief technology officer for the government-facing subsidiary.

Drake will help lead Accrete AI Government’s effort to expand its presence in the market by converting business opportunities and navigating procurement processes. Accrete said Tuesday that Drake will also establish standards around AI performance, explainability, bias and ethics.

Most recently, Drake was chief of the senior leadership and technology team at the Pentagon and before that DIA’s first director of artificial intelligence.

A 2021 FCW Fed 100 award recipient, Drake was recognized for writing a long-term roadmap to guide that agency’s investments in AI over the next five-to-10 years.
