Teledyne FLIR hires new surveillance biz leader

Teledyne FLIR has made its first senior leadership hire since the combination of both businesses completed earlier this year.

Former Defense Department technology executive Dr. JihFen Lei has joined Teledyne FLIR as vice president and general manager for its surveillance business, the company said Monday.

Lei’s appointment marks a return of sorts for her to the company as she led a business unit within the digital imaging segment prior to her most recent role in government.

That most recent role was principal deputy and acting director of defense research and engineering, which placed her in the office of the undersecretary of defense for research and engineering.

Her career also includes service as director of NASA’s John Glenn Research Center.
