Find opportunities — and win them.

Health IT company Document Storage Systems hires a nearly two-decade federal service veteran to steer its strategy for growth in that market.

Health IT company Document Storage Systems has hired nearly two-decade government service veteran David Whitmer as chief strategy officer for the federal line of business.

In its announcement Monday, DSS cited Whitmer’s background in leading facilities and operations for the Veterans Health Administration and National Institutes of Health that included 10 years in the Senior Executive Service ranks.

He held a 21-year career at NIH and was lead executive officer for its National Eye Institute during his last eight years there.

Whitmer was most recently medical center director for a VA medical center in Dublin, Georgia and led that facility’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. That work included surge capacity, mitigation of risk to patients and a vaccine program.

DSS received nearly $47.1 million in unclassified prime obligations during the most recent federal fiscal year, according to USASpending.gov figures.
