BAE extends Air Force test range support

BAE Systems Inc. has booked a seven-year, $495 million contract to continue its support of test and tracking ranges used by the Air Force to monitor the skies.

The Britain-based company’s U.S. subsidiary has worked on the Instrumentation Range Support Program for 35 years to maintain its accuracy and operational reliability for national security missions, BAE said Monday.

IRSP comprises of 27 ranges whose platforms include radars, telemetry and optical range mission systems, flight termination systems, data acquisition systems and GPS systems.

Ranges include those in the U.S. operated by the Air Force, Army, Navy, NASA and Energy Department. Other ranges are located in allied countries such as the U.K., Germany, Norway, Sweden, South Korea and Switzerland.
