Calibre appoints new defense growth lead
Calibre Systems appoints a former Army Training and Doctrine Command executive to oversee growth among defense customers.
Calibre Systems has hired nearly two-decade defense sector veteran Sylvester “Sly” Cotton as a vice president of growth.
Cotton will focus on developing and maturing Calibre’s capabilities and offerings for defense clients, plus lead the company’s expansion strategy for current and future customers in the Defense Department and Army.
That emphasis particularly includes work in the Huntsville, Alabama and Augusta, Georgia regions, according to a Calibre release.
His career prior to industry includes service as director of the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command’s Cyber Center of Excellence’s Capabilities Development and Integration Directorate.
In that role, Cotton was responsible from transforming the Army’s Fort Gordon, Georgia site from the Signal Center of Excellence to the Cyber Center of Excellence.
After leaving government service, Cotton held leadership positions at several publicly-traded government services companies in support of Army customers.
